WAUKESHA, Wis. - Competing at the annual Wisconsin Private College Championships Sunday afternoon, Beloit's women's track & field team finished fourth out of 12 competing teams with 82 team points, which was just four points shy of third place. The Buccaneers' men's team placed seventh with 35 team points.
One highlight of the women's day was the performance of
T'Aira Boyance, who won both the 100 meters (12.30) and 200 meters (25.43), both of which are less than one second shy of the school record. Boyance also ran a leg on Beloit's first-place relay teams in both the 4x100 and 4x400, with times of 50.14 and 4:01.55, respectively. Joining her on the winning 4x100 relay were
Darcel Royster,
Alayna Furch, and
Jordyn McDonald, while McDonald, Furth, and
Candis Damste joined Boyance on the 4x400 team.
Hannah Welte and Liz Kalk also each won an event, placing first in the 400 meters (70.32) and high jump (5-03.75), respectively. McDonald added a second-place finish in both the 100 meters (12.61) and 200 meters (26.58), which were second only to Boyance's times. Damste also finished third in the 400 meters with a time of 63.79.
The men's highest individual finish came in the 400 meter hurdles, where Nathaniel Otis placed second with a time of 57.29, which was one second shy of the winning time. Otis also ran a leg on Beloit's winning 4x400 relay team, which also featured
Alexandre Atou,
Ahmasi Martin, and
Ajani Joseph teaming up to run a time of 3:27.74, which was just 0.04 seconds better than the second-place team.
The Bucs will be back in action on Friday when they'll travel to UW-Whitewater. That meet will begin at 11 a.m. in Whitewater, Wis.
