T'Aira Boyance Finishes 15th at NCAA Division-III Nationals

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Serving as Beloit College's only representative at this weekend's NCAA Division-III Outdoor National Championships, hosted by St. John Fisher, Senior T'Aira Boyance finished 15th in the 400 meters.

Running in the third of three heats in the event on Friday, Boyance ran a time of 56.70 in the prelims of the 400, which advanced just the top eight times to Saturday's finals. That was just off the pace of her school-record qualifying time of 56.60. The top time in Friday's prelims was 54.74, while the last qualifying time was 55.96, which was the eighth-best time at the prelims.

That ends a tremendous season for Boyance, who was named Midwest Conference Women's Track Performer of the Year. A Biology and Cognitive Science major from Houston, Texas, Boyance also earned All-Region honors in the 400 meters this season. In addition to her school record in the 400, Boyance also helped the Buccaneers establish a new school record in both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, with times of 48.29 and 3:48.47, respectively.
