Beloit College has named Ted Soenksen the 29th head coach of the Buccaneer football program as announced by Athletic Director Tim Schmiechen Thursday. Soenksen will begin his post at the helm of the Beloit College football program Monday, March 11.
"We're very excited to have Coach Soenksen become our head football coach," said Schmiechen. "His success as an athlete, recruiter, and coach make him an outstanding addition to our department and extremely well suited to lead a program toward future success."
"I am honored and excited to become the next head football coach at Beloit College," said Soenksen. "My wife Clare, son Teddy IV, and I feel extremely blessed and thankful to be joining the Beloit College community."
Soenksen is no stranger to the Midwest Conference. A 2006 graduate of Lake Forest College, Soenksen spent six seasons on the Foresters' staff, the last four as the team's offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. He was named the associate head coach last season.
His high-powered offense set the Lake Forest program record for yards per game in 2017 and scoring average in 2016. Soenksen's offense has led to numerous Forester team and individual records, as well as, individual accolades including All-Midwest Conference and All-America honors.
In addition to success at Lake Forest College as the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, Soenksen has experience coaching tight ends, coordinating the run game, is a certified in strength and conditioning and has also served as a recruiting coordinator. His previous experience includes stints at Limestone College, Briar Cliff University, Central Methodist University and MacMurray College.
"My staff and I will work to seek and recruit great student-athletes; who are looking for the academic rigor and the rewards that Beloit College has to offer," added Soensken. "We will recruit well-rounded student-athletes who have a burning desire to be successful in the classroom, in the community, and on the field. We will focus on developing young adults and help stoke their passions for academics, positive community relationships, and success in the game of football."
A four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at Lake Forest College, Soenksen was a member of the winningest class in program history. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Lake forest in 2006 and a Master of Education from Central Methodist in 2009.
"I want to thank President Scott Bierman, Director of Athletics and Recreation Tim Schmiechen, and the search committee for choosing me to the next head football coach."
