Hall of Honor
Ambition and desire drove Alina Soros from a young age. A very competitive person both academically and athletically, she competed to excel in the classroom and competed to win on the volleyball court. A four-year letterwinner and four-year First Team All-Midwest Conference honoree, Soros showed from her very first season at Beloit that she was going to be something special, leading NCAA Division III in service aces per set (1.28). She was named the MWC Player of the Year in 1995 while leading the Buccaneers to their first-ever Conference Championship. At the end of her Beloit Volleyball career she held seven game, team and career records and continues to be on top in three of those categories today. But her athletic ability didn’t stop on the court. She also earned All-MWC recognition three times in Track & Field and set the Buccaneer javelin record in 1995, a record that stood until 2005. After graduation, Soros earned her Masters degree in Industrial Relations at UW-Madison and worked for six years in the Human Resources department at General Motors in Janesville. After a short time in Key West, Florida, she is now back in her hometown of Houston, Texas, where she is the Human Resources Manager for a chemical company.
