Hall of Honor
From childhood, Carpenter considered herself an independent individual. That was no more apparent than when she was setting middle distance standards for the Buccaneer track & field team that still stand today. She was an NCAA All-American in Track & Field and a three-time national qualifier (twice in track and once in Cross Country). She was also a four-time Midwest Conference Champion in track, a two-time runner-up in the MWC Cross Country Championships, and is still the holder or co-holder of eight Beloit College track and field records. After graduation, she continued running and racing, winning several road and track races in Alaska and winning three gold medals at the World Outreach Games in Montreal in 2006. She also continues to use her degree in Creative Writing, appearing in publications like The New York Times, Curve, The Writer, the Anchorage Daily News, Inside Passages, the Alaska Pride Blog and more. She is currently the Director of Communications at the Blood Bank of Alaska in Anchorage.
