Hall of Honor
McLeod was one fast Buccaneer. Not even recruited to run when he came to Beloit College, he still has his name peppered across the men’s track & field record books 18 years later. Jeff McMartin, the head track and field coach for the Bucs, recruited McLeod from the Ultimate Frisbee fields, and he became one of the finest runners ever to grace Beloit College.
McLeod still owns the 200m, 400m, and 600m record for indoor, as well as the 200m, 400m, and 800m during the outdoor season. McLeod’s relay team, in which he was the anchor, still holds the sprint medley record in indoor and the 4x400m relay record for outdoor. In McLeod’s senior year, he joined the cross country team, and placed sixth in the MWC—securing a second place finish for Beloit as a team his only year in distance running.
“The outdoor 800m record, 1:50.24, is the finest record we have,” says Brian Bliese and Dave Eckburg, Beloit’s track and field coaches. “It will be the hardest record to break,” says Eckburg.
