While most student athletes set goals in college, Michael Flanagan scored them. Tim Schmiechen, who was the head men’s soccer coach, says Flanagan was unlike any player he has ever coached. “His senior year was record-breaking in almost every way.”

During his freshman year in 1999, he was awarded the Best Freshman Award, and the accolades grew from there. In 2002, his senior year, Flanagan was not only the leading scorer for the Beloit College men’s soccer team, he also led the entire MWC, finishing with 18 goals and 43 points overall. Flanagan broke scoring records in his senior year that still hold in Beloit College history. He was awarded First Team All-Conference and was the first men’s soccer player in school history to be named to the First Team All-Region. Flanagan finished his career as a Buccaneer with 33 goals and 78 points overall.

He was a four-year letter winner and won the Pat Dawson Award, as well as the coveted Blanket Award in his senior year.
