Hall of Honor
When Judy Logback decided to come to Beloit College, her main goal was to pursue a major in Biology, make a difference in the way the planet was being taken care of and, if there was time, play Volleyball. Four years later, her academic goals were realized and are still evolving. During her athletic career, she forged a resume that ranked her with some of the best female athletes in Beloit College history. On the Buccaneer Volleyball team, she established herself as a nearly unstoppable force in the middle, finishing her career with 537 kills and 306 total blocks, including 181 solo blocks, which still ranks third all-time. All in just two seasons. In addition to Volleyball, Logback went out for the Track squad where she won the Midwest Conference Outdoor High Jump crown as a senior while also setting the school record in the Heptathlon with 4,347 points, a record that still stands. As for her pursuit of making a difference on the planet, Logback can claim success. In 1997 she founded the Kallari Foundation in Ecuador. Recently Logback received a fellowship from the Moore Foundation, and is pursuing a Master’s in Forestry and Business Administration at Yale University. Upon completion of her studies, the fellowship requires Logback to return to work in Amazon conservation, where she is expected to create sustainable economic development alternatives to logging and extractive industries. It’s clear whether she is on the court, in the classroom, or in the rain forest, Judy Logback is a champion of Beloit, and a champion for the planet.Â
