A two-year letterman in swimming who came to Beloit from Menasha, Wisconsin to play basketball but was sidelined by a knee injury, Mark Pawlowski turned to swimming for rehabilitation.  As a freshman he was MVP of the basketball team and was co-captain of the 1965 baseball team-earning Honorable Mention All Conference honors.  He joined the swim team as a junior and held all Beloit College records in 50 and 100 yard free style and the 100 and 200 butterfly.  His times in the 100 (:53.4) and 200 (2:16.9) butterfly are still Beloit college records and his time in the 100 would have placed him second in the 1998 Midwest Conference swim meet-some thirty years later.  At a time when there were only two NCAA Divisions, his time in the 100 yard butterfly earned him All American College Division honors in 1968.  Team captain in his senior year, he also was conference champion in the 100 and 200 butterfly.  In addition to his individual times, Pawlowski was a member of record setting 400 medley and freestyle relay teams.  An avid runner until recent injuries returned him to swimming, Pawlowski is a Presbyterian minister who is now Executive Director and CEO of Planned Parenthood of South Central Michigan.
