Shelly Wiegel is one of the most well-rounded student-athletes in Beloit College athletics history, excelling at two sports and in the classroom. A six-time Academic All-Conference performer, she earned that distinction three times for both basketball and cross country. Wiegel was a three-time First Team All-Conference performer for Beloit's cross-country team, while twice serving as Team Captain. Wiegel was voted Team Most Valuable Performer in 1991 and 1992, while helping the Buccaneers win the 1992 Wisconsin Private College Championships.  As impressive as Wiegel was on the course, she was equally extraordinary on the hardwood where she was a two-time First Team All-Conference selection. Voted Team Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year as a senior, Wiegel was a two-time winner of the Buccaneers' Hustle Award. She was a recipient of the Beloit Athletic Department's Janssen and Peterson Award as a junior and senior, respectively. 29 years after her graduation, her totals of 259 points and 203 steals rank 5th and 4th respectively.
