Erik Quamme had always worked hard at Basketball.  At Beloit College, he was committed to working even harder to reach his goals as a Buccaneer.  Four years after first stepping on the Flood Arena court, Quamme had cemented his status as one of the best basketball players to ever play for the Bucs.  A three-time All-Midwest Conference selection, including earning MWC North Division Player of the Year honors as a junior, and two-time team MVP, Quamme still ranks as the number three scorer in Beloit history with 1,491 points.  A main cog in the Conference Championships team in 1993 and 1995, Quamme scored a good deal of his points from behind the three-point arc, where he made a Beloit career-best 231.  As a junior, in addition to his Player of the Year honors, he became the first junior in Head Coach Bill Knapton’s 38 seasons to reach 1,000 career points.  Always humble, as he approached his final game as a Buccaneer on February 13, 1996, he wanted only for people to remember the “Big Q”.  Post-Beloit, Quamme continues to work hard and achieve success at Quamme Insurance, one of the top fifty agencies for Sales for Allied Insurance in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007. He is President of the Lions Club in Columbus, Wisconsin, and the current project his club is supporting is building a basketball court in a local park.  In 2004, Quamme married Beloit Alumna Sudha Pavuluri, a member of the class of 1994. They reside in Columbus.
