    Coach, Women's Tennis
Born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and having received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University, Hodge arrived at Beloit College, where he became a history professor, at the young age of 26.  He eventually was named Chair of the History Department. After several years of successful teaching, Hodge was contacted by then-Athletic Director Bill Knapton, asking if he would be interested in temporarily filling the position of Women’s Tennis coach.  While continuing to teach his beloved history courses, Hodge soon found out that coaching tennis was yet another passion in his life, and he soon became the permanent women’s tennis coach in 1984.  From 1984 thru 2011 Beloit College won five Midwest Conference Women’s Tennis Championships and competed at the National level a number of times.  He had 12 seasons with 10-plus dual meet victories and posted over 250 career dual-meet wins during his tenure.  He helped produce 44 individual champions, including the most in Conference history at #1 Singles (10), #2 Singles (8), and #1 Doubles (7).  Hodge is currently enjoying his retirement in San Diego, California, where he lives with his wife, Diane.  Between them, they have four sons and eight grandchildren
