Hall of Honor
It was only a short 11-mile trip from Clinton, Wisconsin, to the Beloit College campus, but for Kim Huisheere it resulted in a long list of basketball achievements. The 6-foot-1 center, who as a high school senior was Player of the Year in the Rock Valley Conference, adapted to the rigors and commitment of college hoops as a first-year and led the Buccaneers to second place in the Midwest Conference while scoring a school season-high 395 points. During her career, she became the fourth Beloit woman to surpass 1,000 points, was named first-team all-conference three times, won the league’s rebounding title twice, and was selected to several holiday all-tournament teams. Although Kim missed 10 games because of a knee injury as a senior, she ranks fourth among the Bucs’ all-time women’s scorers, totaling 1,224 points; second in free throws (294); third in blocked shots (65), and fourth in scoring average (15.5), field goals (465), and rebounds (613). She also was voted team MVP and offensive player of the year and earned the coveted “B” Blanket. A special education teacher at her alma mater — Clinton High School — and a master’s degree candidate at UW-Whitewater, Kim is married to Stan Ciochon and is the mother of four.
